Hi, thought I'd share a pic of our new little wildlife pond that we've just put in this month in the hope to attract some more wildlife into the garden. Still have some more planting to do in and around the pond but pleased with it so far. :spinning:

That looks nice, is the far end deeper? The front looks perfect for birds to bathe in and for things like Hedgehogs to get a drink without fear of falling in and getting stuck. Might be too shallow for amphibians to breed in though.

What a lovely pond, well done @Sienna's Blossom ! :dbgrtmb:

Do you already get bathers and drinkers? My tiny pondlet is a magnet for Blackbirds and other garden birds who enjoy the shallow bathing area and play with the spray of the little solar powered fountain pump.

The bridge looks very professional and neat. :)

Thank you all for the nice comments, the deepest part is 50cm @burnie

I haven't seen any birds in it yet but we have several bird baths and an existing pond that they use so hopefully they will get the confidence to try out the new pond soon. I've ordered a solar powered pump to help oxygenate the water and some more pond plants.

I'd love to get hedgehogs and amphibians in the garden!

The bridge makes a good viewing platform and leads to a new little patio area, it's been so nice enjoying the winter sun and sitting out there the past few days.

That's cute does it have a liner? I can't see one which is a good thing a bane of ponds in my opinion. You've done a nice job of it .

It certainly was here as the original pond is much higher on one side than the other. After trying (and failing) to disguise it with 'draping' shrubs, I found the solution. Fake grass  Sounds horrible, doesn't it? Once the bright green colour had faded in the sun to a more natural look, though, it does the trick. The frogs absolutely love sunbathing on it.
Your pond is lovely, @Sienna's Blossom

Thank you, it does have a liner which we've tried to disguise with a shelf of cobbles all the way round and then the marginal planting when they grow. Managed to find a few evergreen pond plants but feeling impatient for spring when there will be so much more choice of plants!
I'll take some more pics of the different perspectives and the plants as they start to grow.

Hopefully the wildlife will enjoy it, we get lots of dragonflies flying over the garden but they don't use our raised pond, I think it is too shady for them that side of the garden and the wishing well roof prevents things from easily accessing the pond I think. But we've had blackbirds and thrushes bathing in it and sparrows and robins drinking from it which was lovely. This new pond is in a sunnier part of the garden and should be easier for wildlife to access . It's only been there a week or so but it's already brought us so much happiness and Spring is just around the corner :spinning:

This is our older pond, we put shelves in for the plants and the birds seem to enjoy it, we added ramps for any wildlife that might need it, but we wanted something more accessible so now we have two ponds

Mr and Mrs Blackbird have found the new pond, lovely to see them making use of it!
I'll have to make sure the camera is ready to get some pics. Also had a goldfinch come down for a drink but was still a bit wary! Got some more plants in there too, excited for Spring now.
