Hi All, recently moved into a house with a red and a white grape vine (two plants!) growing along a fence. Never grown them before. Wife thinks its an overgrown mess and wants it gone. I agree its overgrown but would like to rescue it and keep much neater of that's viable. Can anyone advise please what I can do right now and whether its really practical to grown such a vine outside in sunny South Wales?
    Thanks for any help.

They do get like that left to their own devises.
Is the red one "brant", I had one of that variety some years ago, lots of small bunches of black sourish grapes as I remember.
The leaves usually turn red in autumn, I think its considered mainly a decorative plant.

The white one could be anything?

You can cut the long growths back at any time now, just dont cut into brown wood, or they will bleed.

Really you need to look at some proper pruning in winter when its possible to see what exactly you have there.

Yes Brant, the white one is Solaris.
Thanks, might give it a bit of a chop now then.
