On Saturday I received a envelope in the post marked MOD which triggered my sense of humour of questioning if the MOD was so short of Air Radar Fitters, [again], in the RAF that they were drafting those people of my age:old: back into the Services again.:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee:
However, it appears, that the MOD has just got around to looking for those members of the Services who served in the RAF, Navy or Army, before 2006 who might be entitled to be in the Veterans Armed Forces Pensions Scheme.
It appears, in my case, although I served 22 years in the rif raf, and receive a tiny pension from the MOD for that service, they have discovered that when I officially retired at 65 I should have been able to claim for the Veterans Armed Forces Pension Scheme but, since nobody even told me about the scheme, I didn't.
So now, after the inventions of Steam, electricity, and several Governments of different "colours" they have written to me saying I am entitled to claim for the unpaid amount of unclaimed pension from the age of 65 and also convert 25% of the funds into a lump sum in line with other Pension policies. I've no idea of the amount due and, knowing the "generosity" of HM Governments it obviously won't be a lot and, to be honest, I'm already in receipt of several pensions so I won't starve but probably just end up paying more Tax.
But I haven't posted this to tell you about my case but make other "Veterans" aware that there is such a Veterans Armed Forces Pension Scheme and that if there are any members who served in the Armed Forces before 2006 and are over 65 not in receipt of this pension, then they should contact Veterans UK using the following......

For help and information on your armed forces pension please ring the Veterans UK on 0800 085 3600
    or write to:

    Veterans UK Pension Division
    Mail Point 480
    Kentigern House
    65 Brown Street
    Glasgow, G2 8EX

For help and information on your compensation claim please ring the Veterans UK on 0808 1914 218

    Or write to:

    Veterans UK
    Norcross
    Thornton Cleveleys
    Lancashire, FY5 3WP

My lifelong friend, who served in the Navy, also wasn't aware of the Pensions Scheme and will be contacting Veterans UK to claim entitlement. So if there are any Veterans out there within the GC Gang or, if you know of somebody who might be eligible, please use the above information as you/they are entitled to it for the Service you gave.
