hi, my outlook express has suddenly stopped working. it keeps asking me for my password even though i have put the right one in. I have even deleted the email account and started again with a new password but it still keeps asking me for the password. iv contacted my server and we'v gone through checks to see if its their fault but it is not as i can recieve email online. I dont know what to do next as i like outlook express.

    Any advice?

I'm not very computer literate so I can only tell you my experience and not why it happened. :(

I also had that problem some time ago and found that it happened after updating either AVG or Zone Alarm (can't remember which). I did a 'Restore' to the previous date and it then worked OK. I then got the update again and there was no problem. :thumb:

I don't the know cause and I don't know if the 'Restore' was the remedy  but someone on here is bound to know :)

    Good luck :D

Hi all or morning all by the time you all read this :D)

I finally found out what was wrong with outlook express (mine anyway), somehow my account username had been deleted (my son uses my pc aswell!) but it took a 15 minute wait to get thru to virgin to find that out. Anyway the very nice ENGLISH engineer took me thru it step by step and its all fixed now.

Now got one other problem! my norton antivirus wont allow me to get my live updates as it says i have to connect to the internet first- i neva turn my net off until i go to bed which is probably in an hour or two lol.

Any takers for this one? :o)

Hi Willow you must be connected to the net or you wouldn't be on this forum (unless your using another computer) there have been issues this last couple of days after microsoft installed there latest update, the update conflicted with security programmes the programmes would then not allow accesss to the net,my problem was with zone alarm I resolved this by deleting microsofts latest up date,to do this click on start bottom left go to settings-go to control panel click on add&remove programmes scroll down to the bottom of the list look for KB951748 delete it,you should then have access, zone alarm this morning sent a patch to resolve the problem I would imagine Norton will do the same when they do you can allow the latest microsoft updates.

Oh my goodness, I've been having problems just getting onto my homepage. I thought it was something we'd done, without knowing, and was thinking of chucking ZoneAlarm cos it never happened before I had that. Now I will have a proper look. Thank you everyone.

    cheers

tweaky, I know this is going to sound really stupid but where is this new version on the ZoneAlarm site? I have looked and see now what the problem is but I don't see this 7.0.483 on there (I have checked and I have the 7.0.473).

What am I doing wrong (again!)?

    cheers

Tis funny that you say that lass as this is the version I have.

    ZoneAlarm version:7.0.470.000
    TrueVector version:7.0.470.000
    Driver version:7.0.470.000

And only recently updated it direct from ZA on my system??

However I read that info somewhere else, but can't for the life of me remember where it was....I shall toddle along and try to find it.

So did you install the .483 then tweaky? If not, then I'll try and find that Microsoft update & delete it.

Don't know how I've got a 'later' version than you if you've just updated it?? I only got ZoneAlarm recently after reading about it on here. Just checked and it was the 31/5 when I got it.

    Will wait for your reply.

    cheers mate
