i have just moved to a new house and half the garden is over growen with brambles.dose any one know the best way to get rid of brambles.
Chop off the top growth and then dig up as much of the root system as you can. You'll have a job to dig them all out but if you spray any emerging gowth with brushwood killer ( you'll probably have to repeat this a few times) you should annihilate the worst within a season.
alternatively, once you've got rid of as much as possible by chopping down and digging out, keep cutting back with a mower if it's in an area that you can reasonably do so. I've found that works, and eventually kills it all off. It does take quite a while though!
