I have pruned cut a 4yr old apricot tree in half after the first prinings shown the wood dry, but this last cut left the tree without branches, what can I do to recover the fruit tree?
When will I be sure it wount survive or grow again?

I think you'll just have to leave it alone, and wait and see. If it's not produced anything by June I think you'll have lost it.

    Hi kiwi

From a professional viewpoint it sounds as if you've pretty much sealed the tree's fate and doomed it, although it's hard to say without viewing the damage done to it. Removing all the branches from a young tree not only reduces its ability to produce food to survive, but also increases the risk of bacterial, viral or fungal infection. If the tree does miraculously survive and put on new growth it will be out of sheer desperation! My advice would be to leave well alone and deal with any consequences as they appear, or remove the tree altogether and replace with a more suitable species. Whatever you decide to do make sure you get professional advice before hacking away at a tree if you want to keep it.
