Hello folks, it's taken me 41 years but it seems I'm going to have to do some gardening. My parents are getting on and gardening is a bit difficult for them now, so I've been asked to try to get their garden in order. It's not particularly big, but contains an overgrown pond (which is pretty much dried up) and a stretch of what was once soil but now appears to be weeds. Any advice? I'll try to upload a couple of photos to give more of an idea of what I'm looking at....

We need a few more pics than that please, Garden overall as you say not overly large,or in sections ,difficult to say anything from those pics, looks like first is the pond , remove the ivy then see whats left, same applies to the 2nd pic.

Agree with Pam, the first thing I'd do is get rid of the Ivy and see what's left :)

Then take lots of pics and post them here and no doubt you'll get some good ideas.

      Hello and welcome:)

I like the ivy, but it would be good to see it in context from some photos of the larger area. Maybe your parents could tell you what they think is wrong with it, and what they'd like you to do to help. I understand the situation (I think). My dad is slowing down a bit so I usually put in a few hours most saturdays to help him with his allotment. He knows what he wants, but he struggles a bit to make it happen on his own now, so I don't really have to think, I just have to do. Maybe its the same with your parents?

Still, how about posting up a few more pics so we can see what we're up against:)
