Overnight destruction!

Virtually overnight something appears to have had a feast on 3 shrubs which are growing round my door - a fig, crimson glory vine and golden hop. The hop (which was looking fantastic last week) is all but decimated with the leaves chewed to virtually nothing and any remains are crispy and withered looking, the fig and vine are less affected but nonetheless they too have been attacked significantly with the remaining edges curled and brown/black. Any suggestions as to the culprit? Thanks

 

Sounds like a Sheep to me, it won't get far, the Tetrahydrocananbinols in the hop will have put it to sleep. Listen for snoring & have a poke around the bushes.

 

...or it could just be slugs! They can do a surprising amount of damage in just one night. Have you got a photo of the damage?

Never known slugs to touch a Hop Vine Dai,

Deer like them though.
