    I got one of these in Spring, pictured below;

    However it had died back and crisped up, I know Oxalis are herbaceous perennials, but I didn't expect it to die down in mid-summer... does anyone who has had experience with this knows what's going on? Could it be a simple as it has just died?

    I abhor any Oxalis albeit pretty but all are a nightmare here.

    Normally I'm not a huge fan of Oxalis either but this is a quite well bahaved, fairly tender one. Not like the spreading ones... in fact so well behaved it may well have committed suicide!

    It is a winter growing SUMMER dormant species, so you may not have lost it. It has just gone to sleep for the summer. Not sure of Summer treatment though. Most of the winter growing ones just need keeping slightly moist until they begin to regrow.

      Thanks! That gives me a little hope! i noticed little bulbs on it when I transplanted it... Knowing my luck though itll turn out to be as fruitful as trying to get Ornithogalum back into flower - which I failed at last winter! We will see ... Wasnt aware it was a winter grower though :-)

      likewise I bought two, a yellow leaved one and a silver grey leaved pink flowered one and that has recently die away. Now I know it is resting and not croaking!

      That depends on the species, not all of them are summer dormant. It is a very large family.

      I like Oxalis. Most are reasonably well behaved. Except the outright weeds!

      I love the two I have. Both readily give up their underground bulblets which enables me to replace the clapped out parent with new plants each year - and give some away to admirers.
      I grow Oxalis triangularis "Cupido" which has a very dark burgundy leaf and little sprays of pinks flowers and Oxalis "Iron Cross" witha lime green leaf and salmon pink flowers which are out now. They can thrive outdoors in Summer but wouldn't overwinter outside I don't think. I never grow them in open ground - only pots and baskets,
