I took a little time out yesterday and called into the Botanic Gardens. Lots to see and here are a few quick snaps.

In the porch as you enter the glasshouse area was Weldenia candida. It is in the Commelina family and as such related to Tradescantia..............

Next to it is Ledebouria cooperi...................

Also in the porch is Arisaema ciliatum........................

    Tulbaghia alliacea..................

I struggled to get a decent photo of Maxillaria tenuifolia as the passageway had just been misted and the humidity kept misting the lens.................

    Into the Lily house.....................

    More to follow.

Allamanda schottii is a shrubby Allamanda. The flowers are about half the size of A.cathartica..................

      The next three are from the carnivorous house;
      Sarracenia leucophylla...................

      And Utricularia reniformis.....................

      And Sarracenia rubra................

Growing in a sheltered spot out of a wall is what would appear to be a self seeded Fuchsia...........

On re-entering the glasshouse area you're immediately in contact with one of my favourite climbers - Thunbergia mysorensis...................

The Heliconia are just coming into bloom. This is H.rostrata..............

        And H.pendula....................

Hard to grow this well though! I want a Heliconia pendula, but the leaves alone are too tall for my house!!!

Got any Thunbergia mysorensis seeds coming? I keep checking the floor under it, but no joy yet.

My Utric reniformis has a long way to go.
It is still quite small at the moment. But the flowers are worth waiting for.

I never had any success with U.reneformis. I could grow it, but not get it to flower. In the end I gave up as it was just taking up valuable space.

              U. Longifolia has flowers identical to reneformis but is a lot more obliging!
