Aw thanks for taking the time to look closely! Yup they do look a bit like photos, sometimes too much. I used to work in flower shows with my own stall, offering prints of my flower painitngs and most people wd just walk by at a distance huffing "Oh, photos! Boring!" I never knew wether laughing or crying about it. My current painting project is a bit more "naif" style, it is a huge screen that will divide my tiny studio from the dining room, it´s a sort of tropical garden, with bananas, heliconias, and strelitzias ( I call it the Musa screen). If ever I manage to finish it, I will post a pic. :)

The horse one has to be my favourite, though being a horsey person it is understandable:) Do you do your paintings from memory, photo's or the actual subject live as in the case of the horse?Hope you can understand what I mean.I so wish I had the talent to be able to paint and draw because I think it is a wonderful gift.:thumb:

I don't go a bundle on Picasso, but love paintings and drawings where you can see the detail so clearly it is as if they are alive on the canvas:cool:

A bit of a mix really. The horse was done part by a picture part by memory. The nudes are mostly done pieceing together various posing sessions with friends, hubby, myself, pictures and memory ( a mess). the flowers from pics and from real.

I am not much of a picasso fun myself... I really love the Preraphaelite painters, and among contemporairies Guillermo Munoz Vera.

I am a bit of a horsy person too :)

Your work is absolutely stunning, Ivory .... you have a very unique talent, ie, making paintings look like photographs!

I have only worked in acrylics but have bought a box of pastels and would like to do as you have, mixing mediums. Do you work on canvas?

Nope, either heavy paper or wood (plywood or medium density fiber). I find canvas is too coar$e for the hyperrealistic affect I like, unless you paint really huge things. I was a watercolour / acrylic purist until some two or three years ago, then I started to mix and match... I still feel guilty when I put pastels over watercolour, but I like it anyway.

My larger paintings are just acrylics. This one is my very favourite ever:
