They are superb Woo, is it three sperate photos stitched together with a software program? You must have a very good tripod to get that effect.

"They are superb Woo, is it three sperate photos stitched together with a software program? You must have a very good tripod to get that effect."

John: My camera has a "panoramic" mode - it basically holds shutter speed / aperture for follow-on shots so that exposure is consistent, and arranges the group of photos in a separate folder when they are downloaded to make it easier to re-combine them. Plus software that automatically works out where the "join" should be, and feathers the join so that it is very hard / impossible to detect (depends how close the subject is, and how great/small the overlap between adjacent pictures)

My previous camera had that, alone, and I used to make adjacent pictures with about 50% overlap:

Click, holding camera still, check viewfinder for a landmark near the mid point, pan so that mid-point is now at left-of-field. Repeat!

My current camera has the setting above, but also shows 50% of the previous shot and the other half of the picture is through-the-lens - so I can line up a panoramic shot much more accurately.

Either way, it helps to make two passes - first high-ish, second low-ish - to make sure the area is fully covered and that there is enough "surround" to then crop the bit that you want.
