I have about a dozen or so containers with winter pansies and the flower buds turn brown around the edges and then wilt or they open partially and appear to be nibbled at the petal edges. Any suggestions?

Can you post a pic, Justracing.
Pansies do like to be fairly damp, so short of drought nothing else from the top of my head.
But do let's see the pic and what is going on.

Thanks Alice, I'll work on the pictures, as I say I'm a bit green to all of this (excuse the pun)

Just a thought, I'd be tempted to nip off all the flower buds whilst they are in containers, it will help the plants to put their energy into their root system prior to you transplanting them. You will get a better show in the long run. Would like to see the photos though.
