I've just bought myself a Passion Flower and haven't a clue what they like apart from the fact that someone told me that they like full sun.
I just wondered if anyone has grown them before and if they had any advice to give me on what to do and what not to do.
I've put up a trellis for it to grow up by the way
Have to say though, what an absolutley beautiful flower they produce....have a look and see what you think

Looks like caerulea, its the usual one grown outside in the UK.
Yes full sun, with reasonable moisture once established, might need watering this year.
Just let it get on with it, you might find it makes a lot of growth and not many flowers at first but thats normal.

nice one for that mate. Are they prone to disease or anything. Please tell me that the slugs don't like them. (I'm so sick of the little blighters!)

PS Love your King Penguins ... love them so much we named one of our cat Penguin :D :D :D Did you ever see that movie about a chap who took a King Penguin back to New York and it lived on his balcony? Brilliant !!! This little character was so well trained it could ring doorbells with its feet (specially installed obviously) and deliver messages in its beak .... wonderful :D

Rosa, the roots may like it in the shade, as both of mine have theirs, but they likes it head out in the sun me'thinks! :D

Thanks guys for the response. How weird though, as when i bought this, the guy in the nursery by us, said that it needs full sun, bizarre ey. Mine didn't come with a label thats why i was unsure as to what its likes and dislikes are.

Haven't seen that film about the Penguins. Bummer. Love the little blighters, if i could own one believe me i would....how cute are they, waddling along like they do..bless there little cottons.. [IMG]

Know what you mean Pea .. I always said I'd have one as well ...not a good idea in a hot country though :( You'd have loved this movie (must get the old grey cells working to remember what it was). Wasn't there a movie recently on King Penguins, ie, this past year? Oh, and have you seen the Art of Landscape series .. one is the Kings with the babies ... aaahhhh aaaahhh :D :D

dont go moving your passion flower as there is different types, lady of leisure may be right, i may have picked the label up wrongly, i didnt get the impression it is the roots that need shade, maybe another member could throw some light on this for us. Mine when it flowers looks like yours, got it as it says for patios and conservatories, shaded aspect.
