    Morning dancing queen!

April is a good month to cut back your passion flowers. You should remove any dead and unwanted shoots and you can be quite severe with them to encourage new growth.

I haven't cut mine back yet (although I probably don't have as much damage as you may have) and have just tidied it up as I'm thinking about letting it go to see how big it will get. I have the Victoria violacea ... my Avatar.

My Passion flower was about 6' high .... Cut it back yesterday within 10" of ground level.

It had got too straggly, and also it got rid of a huge snail colony :D

Goodness, Webmaster, cutting it back when it's six foot high? Of course, the snail colony would put anyone off!

Mine is about 20 foot at the moment, bought in October and "unravelled" so to speak. It's still heaving with buds and flowers. I'm quite surprised after my total failure with the Pinnastipulata, shocking pink one last year.

I'm of the oppinion that the harder you cut them back the later they will flower, I know they do get straggly, but the less trimming the earlier the flowering, I think.

Well, goodness, windy, to have lots of little LoLs around ... would that really be that bad?

Waco, your quad flower is suppposedly "the" flower here but I haven't seen it for sale yet. Will have to ask my garden centre friend about it next time we meet.

After struggling for several years growing Passiflora in containers I read a print article (can't find a citation but I am looking) saying that they often lose vigor after a couple of years in pots and should be composted. It took a bit of nerve for me to try it but I have to admit I have been much happier since then. While it may seem wasteful if they look like they are not producing new growth or flowers as they should it is straight off to the heap for mine.

    Hi again digital flower!

Mine are obviously in the ground because of my location and I cannot be of assistance as to pot grown ones. Perhaps someone else can help there but in the meantime you may wish to look at this link ...
