HI, I am new to this site and this is only my second year in growing veg

I had the corner of my garden dug and added compost to this patch. It recently rained, but not much, but this part of the garden has turned to mud and am not sure if it be wise to grow anything here. It does seem to have poor drainage. I know runner beans like plenty of water, but I expect this to be too wet.

The only idea I got is to build a wall around this part and raise the garden up a bit

I'd be tempted to give it a try. We are just coming out of the wetest months and things will dry out a bit.

Raised beds might be cheaper than building a wall.

Is your soil clay  , if you prepare the trench now and put plenty of torn newspapers under it will all help in future as the paper will rot and provide for future years ,and as the soil dries out in the next few months you may be very surprised :gnthb:
