I have just had a new patio laid and I am thinking of having a couple of clematis to run up my fence on the patio I wonder if a trough would be more suitable rather than a pot and could someone advise me of some patio pot plants.

Get as big a pot as you can lift/afford, to avoid having to transplant the clematis in a couple of years time (as I had to this Spring).

Patio plants - annuals, then you can have different displays at different times of the year.

"Pot movers" like this from B&Q from around £5 to £6 in different sizes lets you use bigger pots.

We've about nine on our patio. We've orange, lemon and olive trees, a rhododendron, two roses, a mimosa and two loropetalum chinensis Black Pearl. They're handy for turning the plant to give "the other side" some exposure to the sun and we can line them up on the edge of the patio if we have company and want to use the patio to sit out.

    Good idea.
I think I need to go get those plant pot movers myself then. I think I did my back in lifting and shifting over the weekend.
will drag Ma over then on Wednesday and get me a discount as well. :-)
