Thanks to Freecycle and a very exhausting afternoon, I now have 220 paving bricks sitting by my front door. I intend to use these as edging for my new 'border' which so far contains very little, so that I can mow right up to the edge, like Paladins' 2nd border pic. in the topic:

What is the best way to make sure they stay where I put them? I don't want to lay concrete.

Liz,I just cut back into the existing firm lawn edge and laid the bricks with a slight fall back into the lawn...and then turned the turf I cut, upside down in the border, firmly against the brick.
It is the only way to mow, using a rotary that doesn't have a roller, without ripping the edges [IMG]

Thanks, that doesn't sound difficult technically. Good idea about the cut turf! [IMG]
My bricks are buff coloured but I can't complain.
