Do not open any mail with ââ?¬Ë?life is beautifulââ?¬â?¢ read info below. xx

    VERY IMPORTANT WARNING

Please be extremely careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning from Microsoft and Norton.

Please send it to everybody you know who accesses the Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation "Life is beautiful."

If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful." Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner."

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS

Anything that tells me I have to copy it to all my friends is viewed with deep suspicion and then trashed.

A good antivirus programme, and a rule of never opening e-mails from people you don't know expecially with attachments has served me well.

Whenever I get one of these warning emails I always look at www.sophos.com and type the heading into the search window.

This site will tell you if it is genuine or not.

There is another hoax going around at the moment with a heading that includes 9/11 WTC.

    I agree with comments above

    NEVER OPEN E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS

unless you really know what it is. The second point is that you must have a plan for backing the key data on your hard disk. For most of us that involves deciding what the key data is and collecting it in a conveniant place. You do not of course have to back up any program files - only your own data. And don't forget your Address Book and your Favorites.

Backing up is god, but even better than that are programs such as Macafee Ghost.

This allows you to make a snapshot of your disk. If you have a major problem it only takes a few moments to clear the hard disk and replace it with the snapshot.

This can save hours reloading Windows and all the other software. You only lose data you have not backed up since your last snapshot.

If you have a dvd writer you can put the data from the snapshot onto that or if you have a second hard disk you can save it there.

These messages are nothing short of electonic chain mail! Rich is quite correct in his advice.
The originator of these nasty little hoaxes are simply out to cause mischief!! (as opposed to real virus creators who are out to cause harm and mayhem)

ERROR. I should have said Symantec Ghost not Mcafee Ghost.

    There are similar products.

Some people have problems with Ghost because they try to run it from windows. It's a dos program so it can be used if windows is knackered.
