peat moss & garden peat????

    Hi everyone

    Does anyone know what the differences between the 2?? Or are they the same?

    I would be very grateful if you could explain the uses of each one too! [​IMG]

    moss is great stuff for putting on top of a hanging basket to make it look good and keep water in - BUT - anything with peat connections is suspect these days, and we're all asvised to find alternatives. It's generally sphagnum moss - which ios the real peat moss. Peat in your compost - same problem - it's using up the contents of the peatr bogs, which are natural habitats for lots of wildlife.     There are lots of peat-free composts - people vary about whether they're as effective - but they exist. It's your choice whether you use them
