    Please help!

My pelargoniums, which have been brought in to the house for the winter, are dying  . They seem to have crown rot - they are going black at the tips and there is white mildew around the crown of the roots, one of them even has a few mushrooms! The room where I keep them is the only warm room in the house and I am reluctant to move them to another room in case they die of the shock.

Does anyone know of any organic way of treating this problem? Will cuttings taken from what little green there is left be successful at this time of year?

Any advice welcome - they will deffo die if I don't do something now,

    thanks,

    Emily

Yes take cuttings from whatevers left and hope for the best, you don't really have a choice, it's either that or risk losing them altogether.

I would agree with Lisa - take cuttings from whatever greenery you have left. Bury a leaf joint in a 50/50 mixture of compost and perlite - just lightly dampen the compost - then leave strictly alone on a sunny windowsill somewhere you are likely to forget them.

The biggest risk to overwintering pelergoniums indoors or in the greenhouse is watering and damp. They need to be kept really dry.

Thanks for the advice - will try that today. Unfortunately the only warm room also has the only sunny window at this time of year!

might be back here in a couple of months asking if anyone has any cuttings from 'lord bute' - it is my favourite and is the one which is suffering most - typical...

    thanks again
