Good morning all my friends,Penny has a spot on her head and keeps scratching it and now its infected, the vet has given her some antibiotics (tablets)a 7 day course and some pink liquid to bathe it with twice a day,she does,nt like wearing the plastic collar is it causing her any unnecessary stress :)

Dogs never enjoy wearing their crash helmets. Its in their best interest though, as otherwise they just wont leave alone any scratches, lumps or bumps on their head.

Ahhhh. She'll be all right, Woo. It really is best to make her wear it. My cat made a terrible mess of his neck by scratching himself, and eventually got left with a permanent bald patch.

    Hi WOO.

One of ours had to have one of those, for a while. Yes, it's probably quite frustrating for her, but it's the only way:blue thumb:

Aww poor little Penny.! Buster collers are no fun to wear but as a small dog even less fun as they have so little ground clearance.!
    Get well Soon Penny.xx

I think it depends on the dog.
I was recently sold one of these by the vet, due to my Zoe having a strange wart like growth on her face which was weeping.
I just told her not to scratch it, sounds daft I know, but she seemed to understand, it healed up OK.

It depends on the dog, some need them things and some dont.

Years ago, my mam had a massive alsation. He was big and sounded scary but he was a big softy. Wife and I were stopping over at my mam's for a few days one time and we let ourselves in, as usual. We were surprised that the dog hadn't barked his terrifying bark having heard the door opening. I knew my mam and my step dad would both be at work so I knew the dog should be in, and I wondered if something was wrong. I let myself in, and there's the poor dog, looking very sheepish, with the kitchen bin lid stuck on his head. He'd obviously decided to do a bit of raiding and got his head stuck through the flappy bin lid. The 'experts' tell us dogs can't experience emotions like embarrassment. The look on my mam's dog's face was evidence enough that they do.
