Pentland javlin

    Hi all, just had to tell you we have just eaten our first new pots and they were georgous.
    It was our first attempt at growing them and i'm chuffed. :D [​IMG]

    Congratulations - must have been great. Excuse me but as a non veggie grower, what is Pentland Javelin?

    i did javelins too!they were marvellous!couldn't believe the difference from the supermarket rubbish! still have a few more plants to dig up but am gonna wait a couple of weeks as they can grow fairly big!loads of butter on 'em!cant beat it...

    Daveyp,quite right had loads of butter and boiled them with our first pickings of mint.

    We grew Nicola and Rocket - and they taste great too.

    Well done on your first effort -its really great to dig your own !

    I too grow Pentland Javelin and have been eating them for a week, though they are not the earliest of the earlies. I started growing Pentland javelin because my original early, Maris Bard, though very nice was a martyr to keel slugs. Pentland Javelin suffers very little of that damage.

    Hello guys...just thought i`d give a mention of the finest early you can lay your hands on....Arran Pilot !! Not the heaviest cropper in my experience,but,the flavour !! Of course...everyone has their favourite,but if you haven`t tried them definately worth giving them a go next year. See ya folks.....freddy
