I put some of my chili pepper plants (Capsicum) outside. They thrived inside my apartment, but I want that insects fertilize the blossoms and so I put it outside.

I recognize the plant is getting weak, the leafs are hanging down. I think, this is expectable due the change, right?

Inside my apartment here in jamaica i always have 30°C to 35°C, outside it might be a little bit cooler, maybe by 3 to 5 degrees of Celsius. But while I was watering my Capsicum indoors on a daily base, outside it rains sometimes. I put it to a location under a tree where the intensive Caribbean sun cannot fully reach the plant.

    Please give me advises.

Also, I am very interested in exchange of seeds! If anyone got some types of Chili pepper seeds, please PM me. I got other interesting and exotic seeds for an exchange!

    Hi.

I see the capsicum plant getting weaker (leafs hanging down), so I wanted to find out, if this will lead to the loss of the plant, or if this is normal and the plant might get used for the outdoor conditions.

Inside my apartment where I grew the plant, I fixed the stem on a special plant mess on my wall to make the plant growing in that location preferred by me and not too much into the width. Outside now, I see that the stem is weak, too, and doesn't support the plant yet, so i used again something to stabilize the plant. I want to know, as second question, if the stem will get stronger and "learns" to support the plant eventually.

    Hi Sven,
Yes, if you take a plant from inside to outside very quickly like you have done without acclimatising it it will go into shock.. Which is what I think you are suffering... I know what your temps are inside & out there, but the plant will still get a shock just being taken & put outside..!! :dh: It will recover I think no probs but you might lose a few of the older leaves..
You are quite right to give it support if you were supporting it indoors, but a plants stem will stiffen & strengthen with the gentle movement from the wind.. Don't keep your plant in the shade under the tree..!!
Give it indirect sunlight to start with then introduce it to a sunnier area.. My friends veg garden out there has no shade at all & she grows wonderful veg, peppers included in the full sun there on her hillside.. Water well in the evenings & feed once a week when sun has gone round now..
Hope that helps you mate.. :thumb:

Oh, it does. It does. Thanks a lot, Marley! :-D

If you make it in time to JM, you'll get the first fruit I see on that chili plant!
