How are yours looking at the moment?

I'm worried for this Salvia rose queen. It has tiny little shoots but has been sat like this for over a month with no further growth

It's been variable here, with the longer established/ less pruned ones further advanced; 'Royal Bumble' has some flower buds already.

I was somewhat concerned about 'Blue Butterflies' and 'Black and Bloom' which were new introductions here last year, but can see signs of growth at the base now on both of them.

I wouldn't worry about yours, it looks happy enough to me and ready to spring into growth once the soil warms up. Down here in London ours is still cold, as well as dry - we've had sun yes, but the nights are still cold....

I agree, they need warmth to really get going, and also rain. The prolonged dryness seems to be holding things back here.

I have several looking the same, but I've learnt over the years to have patience and not dig them out .
I agree that the dry weather isn't helping, it really does seem to slow them down.

Funny you should mention lack of rain. I actually wondered whether I'd over watered it  As it's been so dry I have been watering everything. Unfortunately when I mulched this Salvia in spring I did it with some peat free compost which has turned out to be awful. It dries out and goes hard on top, but is wet underneath, I've noticed the same issue with my hostas. So I did wonder if I'd perhaps over watered it and it was rotting off.

I'll give it a bit longer anyway.

My shrubby salvias are all well underway. I was just a bit concerned for this one but it's the only herbaceous perennial one I have, so nothing to compare to.

If you haven't moved the mulch away from it, I would do so @Jess91 .
If the ground is too wet it will give it a chance to dry out a bit.

Speaking personally I would perhaps dig it out and take a look at the roots etc. just to see how things are looking before replanting. I have been known to pot things up and give them a chance to grow on a bit and form a good root system before replanting in a month or so .

It's in a large pot, not the ground. I may tip it out of the pot though and just check the roots are okay. It looked fabulous last year so it'd be a shame to lose it.

Ah sorry, I hadn't realised that.
