My dwarf sunflower has had its leaves eaten away and there's lines on them, like worm cast shapes lighter than the leaves. On closer inspection I found tiny white cyrsalis's about 2 - 3mm long actually embedded in the leaves. Any ideas? I can't find them anywhere. I've cut those leaves off as there's some new shoots coming.

At a guess I'd say thats leaf miner. They tunnel between the two surfaces of the leaf, eating out a tunnel as they go. You did the best thing, a systemic insectercide will kill them though if it re-occurs.

Thanks Pete, will do my research on them now. Is there an organic insecticide I can use, I don't use chemicals you see. [IMG]

Im not sure about organic insecticide, I think most of those work on contact, and as the bug is inside the leaf, I dont think it would work.
I could be wrong, You really need a reply from the organic brigade. ;)
