Pests growing...

    Be noticed this morning something on my newly planted rose, can someone advise me what I can use to get these horrible things off my rose:(

      R u serious that pic I have uploaded isn't of my rose but it's similar pests are on it...

      Yep, get similar infestations on my beans, black fly in that case, but once the Ladybirds find them they eat the lot.

      Only problem is, you'll probably find ants are tending them on the roses & they'll fight off the predators.

      Check for the ants going up the stems too, you can put grease bands to stop them, works on fruit trees so I don't see why you can't scale it down to Roses.

      Once the Ants stop guarding the herds they will be as defenceless as Earthlings without Doctor Who to protect them.

      Thanks for the advice, where can I get grease rings from bnq? This really is the best forum around:)

      Don't know about B&Q, Nurseries are a better bet. Or make your own, bit of greaseproof paper tied on the stem with grease or vasaline on it. reason for the paper is that you don't want to put the grease straight on the stem.

      Have you checked to see if the ants are tending them yet?

      Someone else will be along to suggest spraying them instead in a minute.

      How do I get rid of the red spider mite on my rose bush?
