Has anyone else noticed that some of their flowers seem to thrive in the rain and yet others virtually rot on the stem of the plant after a shower?
I bought some plug plants this year, in amongst them several Petunias. One Violet, double flowered variety has yet to bloom really, the flowers just wither in the rain, I have had a couple open, only to get wet and die. Another simple white variety is beautiful and is keeping the display going in all the baskets, troughs and tubs. Wish I had taken more notice of the name!!!!!

    Hi, land.
Yeah, we've had this trouble over the years. Eventually we started keeping track of the varieties we were planting and now only plant the "wet resistant" type. Do you grow them from seed or get them from a catalogue or from the local GC?:)

Hi land. I have grown my own but it was soooo fussy. We've had a lot of success with a variety called "Easy Wave" from T&M. Not sure if you can get seeds from them. They've been good all through our ( wet and windy) Summer as long as you keep on top of the dead-heading. If you leave it for a couple of days it's the devil's own job to get them right again. Good Luck

Thanks for that Cajary, will have a go! Yeah you are right about growing from scratch, lotta work and sometimes little reward, all comes down to time methinks. I am not a purist by any stretch of the imagination, I am very lucky, it all seems to grow even when I just 'chuck it in' Ta ,Jan
