Hi I planted this mock orange last April 2023 and it has not flowered yet , no buds or anything. Do you think there's still a chance this year. I do like it as a shrub regardless as it has nice yellow / green leaves but some flowers would also be nice.

It gets evening sun from about 4 o'clock so not enough sun do you think

    Thanks

It'll have spent it's time getting properly established. It's not unusual for shrubs/trees to take a long time before producing much in the way of flowers, if any, because of that.

A lot of sun isn't necessary for most Philadelphus, which is why they're very useful in shadier sites.

I have 3 mature P. Aureus. I bought one and took cuttings that are easy and grow fast.
Two get lots of sun, the other is in shade, but they all flower. The ones that get more sun have more flowers though.
The one that's in shade keeps the lime-green leaves much longer than the others.

I did lose flowers a few years ago when I pruned them in Autumn - not realizing that I'd cut off all the stems that would have flowered the following year - assuming you didn't do the same, I'd agree with @fairygirl

Thanks for your advise, I haven't pruned it at all up to now so hopefully it will eventually get some flowers.

I wouldn't feed it at all or as said above, you risk tender new growth being damaged by frosts/wind - which mine often get anyway with no feed.
If you can give it a good mulch in late Summer, that should prepare it well for next year.
I've never fed or mulched mine.
Yours will flower when it's ready.

Ours over the years for various reasons kept being cut back. Last year it wasn't and this year it had a huge amount of flowers which have now finished. It has been in the ground here for decades and did flower originally before being pruned back.

Pruning at the wrong time, is probably the most common reason that most shrubs don't flower.
