because I am in business ,I had an Email from these scamers who said that someone has drawn a large amount of money from my bank account, and they wanted me to confirm my bank details to them.my husband was so concernd we went to see our bank manager. he told us to ignore it as we dont do on line banking. the thing is the email looked soreal it had the bank's logo but slightly distorted. A lady in leicester lost £40,000 from her bank in a similar scam.

I've had loads of them too Royster. Also get e-mails from various foreigners claiming to be solicitors for a deceased estate who has no heirs and is worth millions. They claim as I have a similar name to the deceased will I act and claim a percentage of the millions!!!! Would probably work if I was called Susan Smith, but I've got a very unusual name and have never met anyone else called the same! I must get these e-mails every couple of days, always from different people.

Hi Windy, funny how these shysters (phishers) manage to get our email addresses in the first place? Maybe I've used some dubious website in the past and left my details there for whatever reason. I did see a tv program just last week re old dumped computers often ending up in Africa where some wicked folks are getting info left on the hard drive and using this info to line their pockets at the expense of the computers previous owner.
    Kind regards
    Roy

    Royster,
I think with enough knowledge you can find any amount of info from the internet. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a luddite, so won't be hacking into NASA control just yet :D

Apart from finding email addresses through various methods (you logging onto some link by mistake or them finding your address in someone elses list, etc) these people have computers generating hundreds of thousands of possible email addresses. Their computers then send emails to these addresses. If they don't bounce (get a response saying 'couldn't find that address') they assume that it has reached an address and that gets put on their list. they then use those addresses to send their emails to or they sell the list to other people.

i recently made an effort to learn a bit more about my computer after constantly having to delete messages, and i mean hundreds.most folks will probably all ready know this(but as i`m not the sharpest knife in the draw it took me 2 years) but if you look to the left on your email page you`ll see
    Anti Spam
    Blocked List
    Anti Virus.
click on Blocked list then go into address and type in the unwanted email addresses you are sick to death of etc and you wont receive any more.ITS AMAZING!Only trouble is i now feel like Billy No Mates cause it always reads 0 Messages Unread. [IMG] :D
