High nitrogen feeds help, but they out grow pots very quickly, so maybe a move into a bigger pot might be the best action.
They make masses of root, so what seems a large pot may be totally full of roots.

I have 5 of them. All planted out, no problem. Get them bedded out they are a full size palm not a pot plant.

Try using something like palmbooster (available from Nigel at Hardy palms - http://www.hardypalms.co.uk/EN/Default.aspx) it really is wonderjuice for palms.

Phoenix palms are not a reliably hardy palm for the most of the UK, especially when small, whilst they are surviving the milder winters of late, a good old fashioned one will see many of them off.

If you do keep them in pots make sure you pop them somewhere sheltered and out of the wind for winter, preferably with as much sun as possible.

If you have a photo do post it up.

Hi Slinky they dont look bad at all.

When you first buy this palm it has usually been force grown in Holland or sometimes Spain or Italy, so has much larger fronds than you would otherwise expect on the size of plant. As it gets used to the UK the fronds it produces next tend to be smaller. It looks like it continued to grow over winter, which is good news.

Keep them fed and watered and give it lots of sun during the summer and they will look good for you.

The pots will severely restrict the size they can acheive. If you decide to plant them out, about now is a good time, maybe leave it a fortnight or so longer to allow the soil to warm up. This way they get a whole summer to put down roots for winter. They dont like winter wet, so make sure you plant them somewhere that doesnt get too damp, and make sure you have seen some photos of how big they can get!! Dont plant it within 6' of a house wall, ideally plant it further away still.
