Am I the only one that uses a non smart mobile phone in public and the smart phone occasionally at home for the internet?
I am asking this because it seems that people nowadays expects you to want a smart phone at all cost and be glued to it most day...
I am quite happy checking my Facebook twice a day from my laptop and I make a point of not getting addicted to social media.

Only recently got a smart phone.
Still only really use as a phone, dont really want the other bits it can do.

Spend a lot of time charging the thing up and trying to hear it when it rings.
Its bigger than my old phone, so definitely a backward step there.

I don't have one and don't need/want one, I have an old brick of a phone with two numbers on it. Personally I don't want to be 'connected' to everything 24/7, seeing the phone clutchers treating it as a life support system..... what happened to self reliance?

My OH has the iphone6 which seems huge, more like a mini ipad. But he uses it for business so a lot of the gadgety bits are useful to him. I get his castoffs and am happy with the iphone5, I do occasionally use it for the internet, but mostly just for text and phone calls. Actually more for imessages which are free between iphone users so it's good for me being abroad as most of my family have iphones

I have an old Nokia original basic black thing that you can use as a phone AND text
As others I have two numbers in it, one being the AA
The good thing is the battery lasts at least two months between charges :-)

To be honest i hate my iphone i only have it to make my life easier when doing social media stuff for my shop snd i can manage shop items on it etc

if i didnt have my shop i wouldn't have one

I quite liked my old blackberry tho it was more solid and hardwearing. i dropped it loads and after spilling water on it the 3rd time it finally died which was a very sad day

Best phone ever tho was a nokia 3330. I would be happy with a lighter thinner version of that. you can call and text on it and if your bored you can play snake. Really what more do you need.

I do hate how these days peope can contact you all the time and see if you have read messages etc. i do find myself telling my phone to f off sometimes if it starts making lots of dinging noises.

I also can never hear any of the 200 ringtones when it rings ! Email is good. I have two card game apps. A football score app , and an app that makes rude noises - the GKs love that one ! I have taken 27 photos and videos all of Molly tailwag.gif

I'm 23 and know exactly how you all feel. I use my phone to text, message people on facebook, check my emails, and make the regular calls to my girlfriend so she can find her phone - normally 10+ per day.
I have a 2y/o Blackberry Q10 which on paper is pretty much an iphone 6. My contract is up for renewal and I don't want any other phone. I'm happy with my phone with an actual keyboard with buttons to press. I've smashed my screen once, and the repair, which i did myself cost me £13.
In the past 6 months, after the camera, photos, and facebook, I've probably used maybe 6 apps. Instagram, the calendar, calculator, a couple of games, and my phonebook. I have no reason to use dropbox, twitter, and all these other things which supposedly make your life easier but don't because you now have a million passwords to remember and can't remember if you put a capital I or a 1 in for this particular site.

I was quite happy with my SE W595 slidephone or one of the motorolla flip phones which took up about the same space as a debit card and certainly didn't empty your bank account when you had to buy one.

Plus chargers and charger ports lasted a lot longer than they do now. Stupid phone companies. Don't actually know what the customer wants at all.

My phone cost me £2.95 and just makes phone calls. Actually, it doesn't!! I've spent less than £1 since January 2013 (the last time I topped it up on PAYG). It gets switched on when I go shopping just in case Mrs Shiney wants to add anything to the list.

The only other time it's switched on is when we're in the Lake District with friends and we split up and need to contact each other about meeting again (I do the driving for us) or going to visit a garden and are meeting friends there.

When we're out we don't want to contact anyone and when we're home we have the landline and computer.

When we have visitors, mobiles are banned whilst in company! If someone needs to check their messages (sister was expecting to become a great grandmother the other day) it's done in another room or outside.

At meetings I run, mobiles have to be switched off or on 'silent' and any messages or calls have to be made outside the room. One committee I run (only lasts a maximum of 30 minutes) mobiles have to be off and put in a basket by the door.

We run our lives and don't let mobiles do it for us! Luddites Of The World, Unite!! :old:

I've got an LG G3 - best phone I've ever owned. I use it for calls/texts and to check my email but also have unlimited data, so I use it for t'internet and also for watching Sky Sports when there's something I want to watch and I'm not in front of my telly. Wouldn't say I'm glued to it though, but it does come in very useful. I've used it when shopping to transfer money between bank accounts when I wanted to buy something which cost more than I had in my current account (and to check the reviews on said item). I've also used it in the garden centre when I've seen a plant I fancy to a) check if it's suitable and b) check if it's cheaper elsewhere, so I do get my money's worth. I also occasionally use it as a WiFi hotspot.

I have an aversion to Apple so wouldn't have an iphone, or an ipad, etc.

Dont worry im 28 and i dont get why you would use social media for personal stuff apart from facebook.

I get it if you are blogging about a hobby like gardening, crochet, baking etc and i get it for business so for celebs, shops, services etc after that i dont see much point.

Maybe its because i dont think my life is that interesting and therefore think why should anyone else care. Maybe other people who do think the opposite
