Phormium tenax

Hi,
Could someone please tell me what feed a phormium tenax likes prior to being planted.I dont know whether it likes chicken manure,bonemeal or any other type of feed.Any help would be much appreciated.

I use Chicken Pellets in the planting hole and then occasional dissolved pellets administered from a watering can as a booster.

Just for comparison's sake I've never found them to be fussy about conditions. Without BM's expertise I'd have said use growmore/Vitax/fish blood and bone, or whatever general purpose came to hand.

BM - is this just what you normally use for stuff, or have you found chicken pellets particularly useful for Phormiums?

 

Not phormium specific but yes it works really well for me. :D

 

Having seen that monster banana in your garden I might have to try some!!
