Hi everyone. I have a photina red Robin, bought a couple of years ago, however it now has black spots on almost every leaf  I’m assuming it has some disease, I’m an amateur here, can someone advise me what to do please to save it?
I’m in the eastern part of the uk.

    Thank you in advance.

    :please:

Hi, they are rather susceptible to black-spot fungal disease. Try to clear up fallen infected leaves, or mulch heavily to prevent spores being splashed back onto the shrub.
I'm afraid I can't advise on what's currently available in UK by way of fungicides but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can :)

They respond well to organic manure, well rotted farmyard if you can source some. This will boost production of new( red) leaves into Spring. Remember that although 'evergreen', they will lose some older leaves in a cycle, these should be raked up and disposed (green waste bin!)

Ive read on some older posts here and seen pictures that stated it was the frost causing the black spots?! So I should treat with a fungicide? Will the leaves just die off?

And I’ll try and obtain some organic manure.

Hi again, if it was frost damage, the edges of the leaves would be browned and the new growth blackened and droopy. It's leaf spot.

Up here they get like that regularly, especially in the west where it's cold and wet. I could never keep them happy in a garden I had, and I never see healthy ones where I live, unless they're against walls or something similar.
I think you have to keep pruning them back to keep new growth coming if it's not the ideal conditions for them. They need warmer, sheltered positions, but with enough moisture to keep them happy. I don't know if there's any chemical treatments for them.

I dont grow these but I would spray with a rose type spray that treats black spot, it might work.
Probably best used in spring, just follow the instructions on the bottle.
