Here are the promised photos. It has reached this height (c 4'6") in three and a half years. I just love the red shoots, which aren't as exaggerated as in 'Red Robin', but make a good feature none the less. Of course they are not as well developed as they will be later in the year when the new leaves are red too.

No problems Woo, you're very welcome. It's lovely to share ideas and photos. This short hedge welcomes people through my gate to the front door. It is also right next to one of my two ponds

Another of my favourite hedges is Eleagnus 'Limelight' with its cheerful leaves and delicious autumn scent.

They're quite popular here, one of the things that doesn't mind the heavy clay soil.... Think I've seen them in a local nursery @7.95€. But the shipping would be exorbitant lol :frown:
Good luck with your search :fingers crossed:

:ideaIPB: I've just had a thought. If they are the same price in N France how about a day trip through the tunnel (or ferry)? One way to search is through ASPECO who are a group of nursery people having rarer plants. You can search by genus species and variety and it tells you who has them. A bit like RHS Plantfinder. You would need to contact them to find the price though. Let me know if you need help with French if the idea grabs you.

Or get them sent to me and I could drop them off as I'm over one weekend a month? Rochester isn't too much of a trek from Folkestone

I've found them mail order Woo and have sent details in a 'conversation' Hope you've got it I've not sent one before on this site!
I think they would be delivered free within France so that very generous offer from l-I-f might be just the thing?
They are €5.99-€4.49 depending on quantity....
