I've used Photobucket for years but now my free storage limit is nearly at an end, apart from opening a new account and another email address to stay with them, can anyone suggest somewhere else to store pics for free? Does anyone still use Image shack?

I do have Image Shack but use it infrequently.
Picasa is good but best of all is Flickr. I am on a free account (not the Pro account that you pay for) but I still get 1 terrabyte for free. It is extremely good for forums as I can (if I wish) save my image full size but select a resized version to paste into replies...................

The problem with Flickr is that you can spend hours browsing..................

I just had to check that Longk , 1 terra byte of storage that is absolutely huge :dbgrtmb:
I presume if I back all my photos up to Flickr...say 2 months later I can do an incremental backup so it will only upload new photos ?
"On Flickr, everyone gets 1000GB of free storage, enough space for more than 500,000 photos. Our powerful search technology means you can find them anytime you want. No matter where you are, automatically sync your phone's photos to Flickr. Now you can save a lifetime of memories in one place."

You could but finding anything would be a nightmare! I use it mostly for the close-ups and better photos as I can't be assed to title or tag every photo I ever upload. More general shots go to Photobucket or Picasa.

What's wrong with storing your photos on your hard drive and backup on an external hard drive? I have mine backed up on two other drives and any really important ones are also put on DVD.

Upload speed here in Shineyland are so slow (.3MB if I'm lucky) that I've stopped putting them on an outside server. Backups are done automatically so I'm not involved in using any of my time.

Mine are on memory sticks as well. I would be unlucky if all my memory sticks failed.
But for forums pasting is just easier for me.

I had this problem with them years ago and so opened a second account but then discovered that I could open new folders and sub folders within them. Sis had the same problem and followed suit with me. Actuallly, I think @roders may have had the same problem? I haven't got a clue (without counting) how many I have but it's thousands. Don't know if it still works, but worth a try?

Nowadays as I don't do so many photos, I just upload from my computer.

PS :hate-shocked: Just noticed this is my 17,000th posting ... but I'm well behind you newcomers now! :heehee:

I used to use Photobucket but I now find it much easier and quicker to upload to GC directly from my computer. The Forum now allows us to upload 12 pictures at a time. I find it a lot quicker to upload directly than uploading to Photobucket and then to GC.

I think there can be problems loading directly if each photo is too large. none of mine are larger than 1.5MB and the Forum can cope with reducing that size automatically. If your photo is large I'm not sure the Forum can cope. Then you either need to reduce the file size yourself or the sites such as Photobucket do it for you automatically.

That is the joy of Flickr. I can store large yet paste smaller so easily.
That said I do use a handful of forums so one upload is all I need.

Thanks for the replies, I do store all my pics on memory sticks as back up but I wanted somewhere to keep them for uploading here as with Photobucket. I have tried before and again last night to upload direct from my documents but even after resizing it wouldn't let me put a different pic up from the first one. I did click full size and not thumbnail but the first pic kept repeating, I don't want to upoad thumbnials. Am I doing something wrong?
If I can't get it right I might pay for a years storage on Photobucket and have done with it.

 Yes as Victoria said in an earlier post,I had the problem of filling up my photo bucket account.
Firstly I did open another account with new e- mail,I have hardly used It as I then deleted a load of photos from the old account making enough room for the few times I use it as I too upload direct from the computer.
I too also back up with 1TB exterior hard drive............and many in the clouds......:fingers crossed:
