Not necessarily on GC, but in a few other places I find when up loading pictures it say not above a certain number of KBs.
But when you use resizing programmes you dont get that option, its usually the number of pixels or a size in inches or cm.

How do you work it out so as to come up with a resized pic of the correct KB or lower?

:) Pete, I think 800 x 600 pixels is the maximum with any forum, certainly the ones I frequent.

    800x600, OK thanks.
But say you was making an avitar , that would be too my KBs, would it not?

I'm trying to work out the relationship between KBs and size.

I think you will find that an 800x600 photo will be around 80KB as a jpeg

An avatar size around 100x100 is around 4KB as a jpeg, but it may vary slightly from photo to photo Pete..

I just cant understand why these resizing tools dont give you a KB option.

A bit techie I know, but it's about image resolution as well (involving the camera)
Some cameras allow you to to take high res pics (for printing) but for displaying on a PC the resolution only needs to be 72dpi not 300dpi. Cameras usually give you the option to change resolutions ie high, medium, and low. Taking a piccie in low resolution doesn't mean anything else other than it will display smaller.
Golden rule is if you don't want prints, take pics in low resolution.
There is free software to reduce resolution if you do a google search Pete.
