    Hi.

A lovely area of my garden is being spoilt by pigeon poo! They are roosting in the trees and doing 'it' all over the place. How do I get rid of them?

I have an elderly Beardie who is sound sensitive so I can't use traditional noisy scarers. If I could get a plastic owl or kestral to put in the trees, would that frighten the birds away?

    Desperate for any suggestions. Thanks.

It may for a brief while - but I doubt it. They react to the shape of flying bird, not the perched bird. If you can't use noise then there are only two things I can think of - stips of tin foil on a string, and or use of the hose as they settle. But again as with most bird deterrant, they will become accostomed.

Tie some carrier bags to sticks and shake, wave them about. They don`t like it.

Had to smile at the thought of the carrier bags! My neighbours already think I'm mad, they'll be sending in the men with white coats!

The hose pipe sounds like fun and my dog would approve of that so perhaps that is the way to go. If I can put them off nesting in my trees they might get fed up.
    Thanks

most yachties have problems with seagulls doing something similar over their boats. they manage to scare away the birds with compact discs olond the halyard of their sails. you could adapt this to suit yourself. get a pile of cd's (real cheap if bought bulk mail order about £10 for 100) get a length of string and fix the disc to the string, drill a small hole or strong tape. you'll have a long line with discs along it. as they flutter in the breeze they'll scare the winged rats away (i think).

this is a bit fiddly but it could work.

or alternatively ring up Tiscali, AOL etc and say you are considering the Internet. You will be inundated with useless CD roms for the rest of your life...except for putting off pigeons.
Air rifle...though make sure its not a neighbours racing pigeons first. My vegetable patch is plagued by a guy's racing pigeons. This is them across the road....definitely looking guilty!
