Hello all! once again I am asking questions!!! I have looked at loads of 'rose' sites on the web and as there appear to be thousands of pink roses out there thought I would ask!

I know that I am asking a lot but heres my wish list :

    in the pink spectrum

to be grown up a tree which is already there-its about 10-12 foot and its got catkins. may be a hazel tree

clay soil- somewhat soggy but will dig some grit/sand in in an attempt to make it better

Gets sun for a few hours a day

ideally fragrant and attractive to bees
    disease resistant
    repeat flowering

Yep, told you it was a long list. I have never grown roses as they always seemed a bit 'old fashioned' to me but as sadly I am getting a tad older they seem now to appeal to me LOL. From what I have read I think I need a climbing type of rose as opposed to a rambling one as they seem to only flower once? But i will stand corrected if its wrong.

Someone recomended one called gertrude jeykll but from what I read this isnt really a climbing one? any suggestions will at least point me down the right path . so thanks for any input

I've got a few pink ones, but by far the most fragrant and floriferous is Gertrude Jekyll. Can easily be grown as a climber (I have it as a climber against a trellis in clay soil). I assume whichever rose you plant you'll need to provide some support train it in the right direction.

How about a Gertrude Jekyll with a Clematis twining through it? I have a yellow clematis next to mine.

Have a look here (that's a Gertrude Jekyll with a purple clematis) and here.

Good evening Flower-power Roses old fashioned, ;) my friend most of the best things are old fashioned:heehee: To plant any Rose under a tree it should be approximately 3 to 4ft from the base of the tree.I would respectfully suggest a Rambler and not a climber only my opinion of course.
Do not plant too close to the base of the tree , otherwise the competition for nutrients and waste may undermine one or both of them.Plant on the shady side of the tree so the climber will grow towards the host and the light.:)

These might be suitable for you hope this helps:blue thumb:

thank you all for your help . that photo of the gertrude jeykll looks fab- obviously at its prime time!! but still lovely. i will have a look at more about all those suggested and see what takes my fancy. i am just so spoilt for choice. Luckily i have a spot which is about 3-4 foot away from tree so that may work well with where i think its going to be planted

Generous Gardener' is a lovely Rose...well they all are....:rolleyespink:

Thinking about it Woo is right...a Rambler would be more suited...it would scramble away up the tree:dbgrtmb:
