plant ID, any ideas anyone?

Hi All,
When i moved into my house 15 years ago, didn't know much about gardening, (still don't now haha)by the side of my gate was this plant, in the summer it has a pretty yellow flower on it, it seemed to grow well under my conifers and kept the ground looking green and not like dry mud, so a few years later i took a bit off and put it over the other side of the garden under my other trees, my question is have i replanted a weed all over my garden? it seems to grow well, creeping over the ground, here are a couple of pics, i have resized them i hope they are small enough

Hi, its a Creeping Jenny, I use it in parts of my garden to smother weeds ie on banks and on poor soil. It can be very pretty when in flower and I feel only invasive if used where there are delicate flowers fighting for space.
