What about Ajuga ( common name Bugle ). Lovely coloured leaves depending on the variety and little spikes of blue flowers.

They should be available as they can also be used in winter baskets etc. I know our local B&Q do a range of 4/5 different varieties.

Bugle is a good idea, also consider Brunnera 'Jack Frost' it is one of my favourites for shade and with it's silvery leaves it will light up that area. In the spring it has sprays of blue flowers similar to forget-me-nots.

Really like the jack frost plants so was gutted when I tried my local garden centre and bnq and both have finished selling them until next year.

But they had some ajuga so I bought three of them
