    Hello my gardening lovelies,

We bought this plant last year in the bargain section of the local nursery, it had a couple of flowers but then they dropped off and I didn't prune it or anything and it didn't have a card with the name or details.

Despite all of that, it's beautiful and the bees love it, but I still don't know what it is and when/if I am supposed to prune it and how much.

So would be most grateful for any advice please, many thanks in advance :spinning:

Hi @Barders , it's a Caryopteris, a hardy shrub. It flowers on the current seasons growth so I prune it down to about 8 inches or so above ground each Spring, growing to about 3 ft high. By leaving it untill Spring you can cut it down to where you see a nice pair of strong buds.
You can ( if you've got the room ) leave the pruning out and just give it a light trim each Spring and you'll end up with a shrub about 5 or 6 feet high.

Awesome KFF, thank you so much!

I am starting a little book (with pictures!) of all the plants I don't have a clue about, so I will remember how to care for them and this is the first entry, thank you :dbgrtmb:
