It does look like a japanese anemone in habit but the flower and bud are actually more like a battered californian poppy, Eschscholzia californica. Mutants form Mars?

    Eschscholzia californica 'Ivory Castle'
(please, notice the name of the cultivar :D)

Are there other species of Eschscholzia?

    Hi again ara06bb,
could you post a photo of the 4th plants leaves please? as it might give a few more clues to what it is:thumb:

@Ivory: I was thinking of Californian poppy as well but from what I remember of them they were always more bushy plants and the flower stem in the photo looks more upright?

Hi ara06bb, 'tis Eomecon (Snow Poppy). Beware! It spreads like mad with underground runners, it even came up through my decking! It's fairly easy to pull up though and it is very pretty.
