Having nearly finished my raised beds it accures to me that as I will not need the space between rows to walk ect. I should be able to plant the rows slightly closer. Is this correct and is there a rule of thumb?

depends on what your planting some plants don,t need much room and some like to spread their arms (i ment to say their leave span)

In raised beds you can reduce the standard (on the packet spacing) by about 25% in most cases. Though as 'use to be gardener' says you need to think about leaf span for some leafy crops.

Looked at the pics of your raised beds. They look great and you can easily add another layer if you want to. The wood should last for years. I've got similar wood that has been in use for nearly 20 years as fences and around the main compost heaps and has still no signs of rot.

Normally seed packets give spacings between each plant and spacings between each row of those plants. Just ignore the row spacings and plant them all equidistant apart.
