Plant suggestions

I want to buy a houseplant to replace one I've just lost. I'd prefer something that doesn't flower and is fairly happy near a radiator. Eventual height up to 6ft and spread not an issue. Can anyone help please.

 

Cheese plant maybe?

I was looking at Howea 'Forsteriana' and Dracaena 'Marginata' today, still thinking on those.

I bought a Dracaena 'Marginata' a little while back . say 3 months .and it is showing signs of lack of light ,so having to rehouse in heated greenhouse for a while . So wondering if your position has good light .Howea probably a better bet ..

 

Thanks for the info Davy. My bungalow is very light and I don't think that will be to much of a problem, even with the grim weather of late, but I'll take on board what you have said and think on it.

I like the Howea but I already have a Parlour Palm which is more or less a shorter version of it, decisions, decisions!

 

I don't think any plant is going to be happy near a radiator, the air will be too dry and the tips of the leaves will eventually go brown.

Well, I opted out of both the Howea and the Dracaena and went for this below.....a Calathea! It's been standing next to the radiator for almost a month and is showing no sign of distress, so for the time being it seems happy.

The underside of the leaves are purple and they have a velvety feel to them.
