Solved Plant with daisy-like flowers - Ox Eye Daisy ( Leucanthemum )

I fear this will be a tough one as the plant is no longer present to identify .....

In short, late spring/early summer there was a daisy-like plant in a part of my garden where I hadn't seen it (but my wife had). It has since gone over, and while weeding the other day I may have accidentally removed it .......... much to my wife's chagrin!

Description follows:

- Flower stems about a foot long
- Flowers: white with yellow centres, looking like slightly larger daisies (but not particularly large)
- Flowering late spring/early summer, now gone over (and possibly vanished without a trace due to my over-zealous weeding - well, there WERE a few nettles, thistles and long grass to be pulled up where these flowers were located!)

Any ideas please? Perhaps they were a weed, but one person's weed is another person's pleasure.
