Planter box hight?

    Wat hight do u usually make planter boxes12" high or 18"?

    If I was making a planter box the height I made it would depend on what I was going to plant in it as you need to make sure there is enough space for the roots, both now and as the plant develops.
    Also think about the setting - a small planter in a big space will look lost and a big planter in a small space will make the area look crowded.
    What sort of shape are you planning for your planters, square?

    JDweeler, just seen your other post about P T Wood. I would go for 12" on that sort of planter.

    Shoot I have a thread for this oops.
    The gonna b 4'x8' 7 of them and there will b welded wire on the bottom , but they will b sitting on dirt

    I was going to do 17" high that's 3 2"x6"s high but...12" high is cheaper and yea

    I don't see the need for too much depth unless you are growing root crops such as parsnips or long carrots. If you start at 12" you still have the chance at the end of a season to add another layer to make them deeper. I would give it at least 2 growing seasons before deciding.
