i want to purchase one of these for my patio to hide a wire that comes down my wall..

Question is what do i plant in it that i can keep well trimmed throughout the year to keep it under control. It is in a full sun location after 11am until the end of day and must be able to be left out in winter

I think I'd be tempted to put a clematis in it although it doesn't look very deep. I'd try something like C."piilu" which is suitable for growing in a container. It's not evergreen though so wouldn't hide the wire during the winter. (photo is off the net)

Maybe other GC members can suggest something else?

How about putting two climbers in......
A Jasmine Nudiflorum for Winter flowers and a Lonicera ( Honeysuckle ) for summer flowers.
