My well matured privet hedge has recently been destroyed by a drunk driver!!

I have seen substantial potted privets around 1m high in a local garden centre. Is now the right time to plant these or should I wait until later in the year as most places only seem to supply after November. I would like to replant a fairly substantial hedge to start with.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jaynegel Its the bare root Privet that you plant from the beginning of November to the end of March but the ones in pots you can plant now, hope this is of some help to you:)

Jay, good evening and welcome to the site, as Woo says, if it`s pot grown, you can plant it now. If you want to use bare root then you need to wait until Oct/Nov/Dec.:gnthb:

I presume the old one came right out roots and all?

If you plant now you will need to keep the plants well watered until the autumn rains start.
