I have been given a piece of land on a farm. It is my first attempt at an allotment. I have been up there a couple of times planting seeds. Because the weather is so wet, am I okay planting? They will not go soggy?

Also the ground is so difficult to break up because it is "Farm land" although the soil is good - the farmers grew veg last year and it was fine. I had difficulty digging deep planting the seeds - will I be okay?

Just stay off the land until it becomes workable and dont panic about not getting your seeds in ealry enough - they will soon catch up. It can make matters worse working and walking on wet ground.

If the ground is wet its a waste of time planting both seeds and plants.

If you have the space start things such as beans, peas in small pots/trays or guttering and transplant when the soil is suitable. Potatoes will just have to wait until the soil is drier. Move them to a cooler and lighter place i the house. Porches are a good bet.
